On April 15, 1134, Easter Sunday, Saint Norbert celebrated his last Mass, sitting in a chair because of a debilitating illness. He died on June 6, 1134, three days after Pentecost, at age 54.
On April 15, 1969, Father DeVeuster’s statue was placed in Statuary Hall in Washington, D.C. He is shown wearing his religious habit and missionary hat, his face bearing the wounds of leprosy. Father Damian was canonized on October 11, 2009.

On April 15, 1912, at 2:17 a.m., the RMS Titanic sunk about 3 hours after hitting an iceberg. Killed in the tragedy were 1,523 people – 800 passengers and 715 crew members.
The last music to be played on the Titanic was the hymn “Nearer My God To Thee!”
