Living for Jesus

Today’s Word:

“The one who feeds on me will have life because of me” (John 6:57)

On This Date…

On April 15, 1134, Easter Sunday, Saint Norbert celebrated his last Mass, sitting in a chair due to illness; he died on June 6, 1134 at age 54.

On April 15, 1865, Holy Saturday, President Abraham Lincoln died from a gunshot wound at age 56; he was called “a great martyr to liberty.”

On April 15, 1889, Monday of Holy Week, Father Damian DeVeuster died at Molokai, Hawaii, of leprosy at age 49; he had served the lepers for 16 years, always addressing them as “we lepers.”

Saint Norbert, President Lincoln, and Father Damian took to heart Jesus’ words in today’s Gospel: “The one who feeds on me will have life because of me”.
