Rich In What Matters To God

On This Date…

Today in Krakow, Poland, World Youth Day concluded with a Mass celebrated by Pope Francis. He asked the young people, “Do you want to be hope for the future? … Preserve your memory of your people, of your family and where you come from. the memory of your journey, and what you received from your those closest to you.” Pope Francis especially singled out grandparents.

Last evening, Pope Francis and the pilgrims (1.6 million young people attended the gathering) walked nine miles to an open field, where Pope Francis urged them to be “young people with shoes, or better, boots laced.”  Afterwards many spent the night in prayer, in adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and participating in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Today, 29 Archmere senior boys gathered in the Oratory of Saint Norbert Hall for Mass at 7:30 AM, before heading to Virginia for a 4-day camping trip. After Mass the boys had a breakfast prepared in the Student Life Center by their parents – “those closest to them.”

In today’s Gospel Jesus urged His listeners to be “rich in what matters to God” (Luke 12:21). In being “rich in what matters to God” we shall be “hope for the future.”
