Today’s Word:
“Lord, hear our cry” (1 Kings 8:28)
On This Date…
On May 2, 1627 the remains of Saint Norbert were brought into the city of Prague in the Czech Republic from the first burial site in Magdeburg, Germany and placed in the Abbey Church of Strahov where they are enshrined to this day. For a whole week there were religious services in honor of Saint Norbert. May 7th was chosen as the date to mark this event annually in Norbertine history.
May 7, 2015 is in America the 64th annual National Day of Prayer. The theme of this year’s day is “Lord, hear our cry”, part of the prayer King Solomon prayed at the dedication of the first Temple in Jerusalem cir. 950 BC.
Dr. Jack Graham, the honorary chair of today’s National Day of Prayer prayed, “Knowing that You are a prayer-answering faithful God – the One we trust in times like these – we ask that You renew our spirits, revive our churches, and heal our land.” May Saint Norbert help us pray today.
