“Give alms, and behold, everything will be clean for you” (Luke 11:41)
On This Date…
On October 13, 1793 Norbertine Father Peter Adrian Toulorge, O.Praem., was beheaded at age 36 in the city of Coutances, France, where he had been ordained in 1782. Just before his execution, during the French Revolution, Father Toulorge prayed, “My God, I place my life in Your hands. Forgive my enemies.” He was buried in a common grave with other martyrs and was beatified in 2012. Today is his feast day.
On October 13, 1985 Norbertine Father Roger Paider, O.Praem., Archmere’s 3rd headmaster (1945-1946), died of cancer at age 71. He was at Archmere from 1944 to 1961, serving as chemistry teacher, librarian, prefect of discipline, and grounds keeper. He is buried at Daylesford Abbey.
In today’s Gospel Jesus says, “Give alms, and behold, everything will be clean for you”. Blessed Peter Adrian and Father Paider generously placed their lives in God’s hands.
