Pope Francis’ Consecration of the World to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

On This Date…

On October 13, 1793, Norbertine Father Pierre-Adrien Toulorge, O.Praem. was guillotined at age 36 in Coutances, France during the French Revolution. Just before his death he wrote to his brother, “I wish you a holy life and paradise at the end of your days.” Father Toulourge was beatified on April 29, 2012, in Coutances, and today is his feast day.

On October 13, 1985, Father Roger Paider, O.Praem., Archmere’s third headmaster (1945-1946), died of cancer at age 71. He worked at Archmere from 1944 to 1961 as chemistry teacher, librarian, prefect of discipline, and grounds keeper. He is buried at Daylesford Abbey.

On October 13, 2013, this morning in Rome, Pope Francis consecrated the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. In part the consecration pleads, “O Most Holy Trinity, lovingly accept this consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. May it bear abundant fruit and bring many graces and blessings to the whole Church. May Holy Mary, Mother of us all and Queen of Peace, save us from all harm, disaster and war.”
