Saint Norbert College & Abbey

On September 28, 1898, Abbot Bernard Pennings, O.Praem. opened Saint Norbert Priory in West De Pere, Wisconsin. Saint Norbert Priory would be the site of future Saint Norbert College and Abbey, and it marks the beginning of Norbertine community life in America.

On September 28, 1932, Archmere’s Mothers’ Guild was organized. According to Archmere’s first yearbook, the 1935 Keystone, the purpose of the Mothers’ Guild “is to better the school in every way that is it able.”

On September 28, 1978, Pope John Paul I died suddenly ate age 65, after serving just 33 days as pope. He was elected on August 26, 1978. John Paul I was hailed for radiating joy, holiness, and simple goodness.
