On August 15, 1932 Father Michael McKeough, O.Praem., Archmere’s first headmaster, met with Mr. John Raskob in Wilmington concerning a first payment for the property of Archmere.
On August 15, 1967 Archbishop John Krol of Philadelphia dedicated the Church of the Assumption at Daylesford Abbey; Archmere’s faculty & staff, juniors & seniors will use the church this year for retreat masses, as will the three Kairos Retreats.
On August 15, 2016, today, over 200 athletes, coaches, and parents assembled in Archmere’s theatre to celebrate Mass for the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, body and soul, into Heaven. Before Mass Mr. John Jordan ’80 welcomed all, especially transfer students and members of the Class of 2020.
In today’s Gospel Elizabeth said to her cousin, Mary, “Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled”. May we listen to God and believe.
