Responding to Jesus

Today’s Word:

“Come after me and I will make you fishers of men (and women)” (Matthew 4:19)

On This Date…

On November 30, 1884 Mrs. Helena Green Raskob was born in Maryland; she married John Raskob in 1906 and they moved to Archmere in 1910 with their oldest four children; nine more children were born at Archmere.

On November 30, 1983 Father Robert Sromovsky, O.Praem. died In DePere, Wisconsin at age 78; he taught music at Archmere from 1934 to 1937 and composed Archmere’s first school song.

On November 30, 1988 Father Neal McLaughlin, O.Praem. died in DePere at age 70; he began as a freshman at Archmere on September 14, 1932 and later taught at Archmere from 1945 to 1947.

November 30 is the Feast of Saint Andrew, a fisherman along with his brother, Simon Peter, and both were fishing partners with James and John. Jesus said to them, “Come after me and I will make you fishers of men (and women)”. We marvel at their quick and generous response.
