Have Faith in God

Today’s Word:

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith in God” (John 14:1)

On This Date…

Today is Mother’s Day, established on May 9, 1914 by President Woodrow Wilson, to be celebrated on the second Sunday in May. On May 9, 1905 Mrs. Ann Reeves Jarvis, a Sunday School teacher from Grafton, West Virginia, died in Philadelphia. In 1865, after the Civil War, Mrs. Jarvis organized a Mother’s Friendship Day, to encourage peace and the care of soldiers on both sides of the Civil War. Mrs. Jarvis had lost four sons in the war. She moved to Philadelphia after the death of her husband. It was her daughter, Anna, who convinced President Wilson to declare the holiday, to honor mothers who in so many ways bring healing and peace to their children.

In today’s Gospel Jesus says, “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith in God”. God has sent us faith-filled mothers who calm our troubled hearts. We are so grateful.
