Peace Be With You

Today’s Word:

“Peace be with you” (Luke 24:36)

Rev. Michael T. Collins, O.Praem. ’68

On This Date…

On April 19, 2005, Pope Benedict was elected pope, two days after his 78th birthday. He celebrated his 88th birthday on April 16, 2015. He resigned as pope in 2013. At his birthday celebration on Thursday, his personal secretary said that Pope Benedict is feeling the effects of his 88 years and is preparing for death, but is at peace because he is eager to see God.

Today at Archmere was a Memorial Mass for Father Michael Collins ’68, who died on January 22, 2015. Two hours before his death Father Collins vested for Mass, saying “I just want to be ready.”

In today’s Gospel Jesus appeared on Easter night and said, “Peace be with you”. Pope Benedict and Father Collins felt that peace. So may we.
